Outdoor dining is one of my favorite parts of summer! I love the laid back atmosphere, plus everything tastes better on a grill. Smokey flavors, friends, family, all paired with laughter and a glass of wine sounds like a perfect evening in my book. Continue reading
Meals have a way of bringing people closer together. There is nothing like a large gathering of family and friends. Enticing smells wafting through the house are a beacon to the kitchen. There may be someone sneaking a taste or simply wondering when dinner will be ready. More often than not, the kitchen trespassers stick around for conversation. At my home, the kitchen is definitely the heart of our home. We gather around our small island or lean against a counter while just enjoying being together.
Verde Sangria?! Yes, the Sangria is Green this week. I mean, can you blame me for going green? It is that time of year. I love the Green for St. Patrick’s Day, but also because it is Spring…or supposed to be. I am starting my seeds indoors now. Hoping for sprouts in the next few days. I can not wait to grow my own herbs, veggies and fruits. This Winter was a long one and I am happy to put it behind me. In celebration of all things Green, #SundaySupper is sharing a theme of Eat Your Greens… or in my case Drink Your Greens. Sangria is a wine cocktail that has been spiked a bit with an extra spirit or two and mixed with fresh fruits. What can be wrong about that?
Game Day! The big day, the one that all of us die-hard football fans and not so die-hard fans can still come together for a great party and fun commercials. The excitement builds all day long until Kick Off. In my family, this is a big day. Football is something we all enjoy. The food is also a bonus. Who doesn’t love all the appetizers, snacks and finger foods? For all of us adults in the world… who doesn’t love to pair all the goodies with a great wine? Continue reading
It has been such a busy week to say the least. My oldest boy attended his first formal dance and my youngest played in his last youth football game. Milestones this mama took time to enjoy. It is surreal to me some days that my babies truly are growing up. Then of course, there was a mid week trip to the emergency room because the oldest broke his finger at school. He is set and mending well, if not bothered by the splint. Never boring around the ol’homestead. Continue reading
I have posted before how I was inspired by a group on Twitter whose mission is to get families back to the dinner table. I love this concept. This week, for #SundaySupper the theme is Celebrity Chef Inspirations. How does one choose? That is such a hard thing for me. Who doesn’t love Paula Dean or Bobby Flay? I personally love the Pioneer Woman, ReeDrummond. Her Blog was one of the first I started reading. My grandparents owned a ranch in East Texas and I could relate to her and her style of food. But, I had to go with my new food obsession. A show on the Cooking Channel called ExtraVirgin also known on the web as Under the Tuscan Sun http://underthetuscangun.com/. Continue reading
