Greek Chicken Burgers #SundaySupper

This week, #SundaySupper, is all about meals that have 5 ingredients or less. There are some freebie ingredients such as salt, pepper, oil… but for the most part, the meals that are featured contain only 5 ingredients. This was a really fun challenge. What in tarnation could I make that had 5 or less ingredients? Well a burger sounded good, but Greek Chicken Burgers sounded even better.

In keeping with the challenge of only 5 ingredients or less, I used a store bought Greek Salad Dressing to flavor my burger and add some fat to the chicken to keep it from drying out. Ground chicken can be tricky to work with. It can dry out without added fat and the meat is sticky. Sticky is good though, that means you are on the right track.

Greek Chicken

Greek Chicken Burgers

  • 1lb Ground Chicken (if you can not find ground chicken you can use ground turkey)
  • 2 tablespoons Greek Salad Dressing
  • 1 head Lettuce (I used iceberg)
  • Feta Cheese
  • Onion
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Step 1
In a bowl, combine the ground chicken and Greek Salad Dressing. Let marinate for about 15 minutes.
Step 2
For the pound of meat, I make 4 burger patties. The mixture is sticky.
Step 3
Into a hot, oiled, skillet, place your burgers. I top one side with some additional salt and pepper. Cook until done. No pink in chicken. The Greek Dressing will keep the burger moist.
Step 4
I serve this on lettuce wrap leaves with feta cheese topped on it and a sprinkling of onion. Additionally, I use the left over lettuce and make a quick side salad dressed with the remaining Greek Dressing.

These burgers are flavorful and healthy. They were gobbled up by hungry boys pretty quickly, though I might add the hungry boys added buns. I like the lettuce wrap in place of a bun. Also to keep with the challenge of a 5 ingredient meal, I chopped up the remaining lettuce, feta cheese and green onion to toss into a side salad. I did add a 6th ingredient for color… I needed those little red peppers. Shaking my head in shame. ..

The #SundaySupper Team has been hard at work creating great recipes that you can turn to when you want a simple but delicious meal for your family. After all, Sunday Supper is about the time spent together, not necessarily an elaborate feast. Though, those can be fun too.  The relationships that are nurtured around the table are reward enough in my book.

  1. Oh so very clever of you and budget-wise, Shannon. You basically made 2 major meal components using a few ingredients. Also, I never would have thought to marinate chicken in Greek dressing. =) Bravo!

  3. I tend to forget about iceberg lettuce, with little to no nutritional value I often skip past it in the store. However it makes the BEST lettuce wraps so maybe that is really what it was made for. I do try to reduce my carb intake and I forget how much I do love using iceburg as a substitute for bread in many situations. Thanks for the reminder with this great recipe.
