Super Bowl Sunday… It evokes such imagery for me. The big game, the friends, family, food and we can’t forget the funny commercials. All of this is what makes Super Bowl Sunday so much fun. We are a sports family, baseball and football seasons are followed closely. We have watched all the games, rooted for the home team and then our next favorites and so on until it has come to this epic match-up. The Coaches of these teams are brothers. My boys have had intense discussions of what that will be like for them one day. Oh, and mark their words, it could totally happen to them.
Regardless of which team you are rooting for, no home team to cheer on for me, you need snacks to get through this battle. The #SundaySupper crew has been hard at work planning and organizing tasty treats for the party. My contribution to this is Meatball Sub Sliders. To be honest, these mini meatball subs are wrapped in a biscuit like dough, much like another Michigan favorite…the Pastie. They also use my Italian Red Sauce in the recipe as well as a condiment.

Oooh! They look so yummy – I’m loving all that cheese and that the rolls are from scratch.
Great recipe!
Thank you!! lol Gotta love cheese and bread : )
Even though we rarely watch the game, these look so delicious they just might make it to our Sunday evening meal tonight! Starting to like football A LOT!
I hope they make the game a little more fun to watch : )
These look super! Meatballs in a biscuity dough, yummy!
Thank you! The dough was super easy to make but someone could use store bought biscuits… you know to save time…if they had to… lol : )
A meatball made with pork has a place in my heart for sure! Perfect food for sports watching.
Pork is sooo good in meatballs : )
I love these little pockets! I could eat a million of them!
They are hard to resist. Its a good thing I have lots of people to feed so I don’t eat them all lol
Great idea! I love the idea of a meatball sub slider! I want one!!
Thank you!
My husband would looove these! Thanks for sharing
They are a hearty hit with my husband too lol
Those look amazing, I want! How much I wished you could send me some over right now.
lol Yes, they may not make it there in a tasty state.
Clearly I don’t know what a real slider is because I thought it was just a tiny hamburger and, so, was never impressed. These look great! Love the combination of beef and pork in your meatball too.
Thank you! I may have been playing liberal with the slider take… here those are usually small burgers : )
Looks pretty Yummy!
: )
I love meatball subs but I make a giant mess when I’m eating them. Meatballs go rolling out all over. Now these are a great solution. I’m sure I can manage to eat these without spilling. Great little sliders for a party!
Oh no! Those tricky things. lol IT is a nice pocket to hold and eat. The dough holds up well with the sauce.
Love the idea of the meatballs all wrapped up in yummy dough!! You can’t go wrong, perfect for the big game!
A hearty treat for sure. It is cold here tonight. Brrrr
Meatballs in their own little parcel – perfect food for watching the game!
Parcels of Goodness… catchy, I like it : )
Cheese + Meatballs + Dough? How could this taste anything less than spectacular????
It is like all of the food groups right? lol
My son would faint if he saw there! A meatball fan-atic! Look soo good! #SundaySupper
The men in my life (2boys and husband) love these! They heat up well the next day too…if there are ever any leftover.
These look so YUMMY. I love me some meatballs Momma!
Thanks! The meatballs are super food, all rolled in the sauce with melty cheese and dough. They are all gone or I would go back for more right about now lol
That’s a fabulous take on the slider!
Thank you!
How exciting, Shannon, to share the Super Bowl with football stars and possible future coaches =) And with their mother preparing yummy meatball sliders, they will not lack for nutritious and delicious Sunday Suppers!
Thank you, too, for sharing your sauce recipe. It’s a keeper!
They woke up arguing about the game. lol It is fun though. I know these days go by quickly!
I love this. It is a non messy version of a meatball sub. YUM!
Definitely much easier to eat : )
Love sliders and these look super cute and perfect sized to nibble on while watching any game
Thank you!
I love that you wrapped the dough around the meatball instead of just using a bun. I will def need to try these for a fun Friday night dinner.
Thank you! They are like pockets of goodness lol
Real size meatball subs can be such gut bombs. These those, are the perfect size and then after you’ve had one, then you can decide if you need to stuff yourself on the second (or third) one.
Thank you! One was good for me to feel like I indulged in the cheesy doughy goodness but not feel weighted down by a heavy sub. Now, my boys…they were another story. lol
What a delicious recipe!
Thank you! I hope you try it.
Meatball pockets sound delicious!
The meatballs themselves were really good too, but the whole thing was a great treat.
Mmmmmm, in NJ, this would be a calzone! Yum!
They are calzone like aren’t they? lol
ooh, these look lovely. All baked in nicely ! No mess dinner
! Must try it at home !
Oh I haven’t had a meatball sub in so long. I don’t know why I never thought to make it homemade, I bet it is even better.
